Se supone que todo eso se hace automaticamente con
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network start

El chiste es tener un archivo ifcfg-eth0 con la configuracion. Vean abajo

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=static
IPADDR=192.168.2.5
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=192.168.2.1
NS1=192.168.2.1
HOSTNAME=ne
