Numerous security problems in Red Hat have been found, and the Linux Expo
excitement has caused some delays in getting things out. Here's the first
set though -- expect more soon :-(

Note that Red Hat 5.0 and Red Hat 5.1 share all of these fixes, but we'll
but them in both the 5.0 and 5.1 update directories for the time being. As
users migrate to 5.1, we'll stop doing this. However, the 5.0 Errata will
be maintained for quite some time.

xosview in Red Hat 5.1 was unintentionally made setuid, which is not a
terribly good idea. Users of Red Hat 5.1 should upgrade to the new
xosview package immediately. Red Hat 5.0 users can upgrade if they like,
it won't hurt anything.

The versions of bootp, metamail, and dhcpcd distributed with Red Hat 4.2,
5.0, and 5.1 all have security problems. Users of any Red Hat distribution
should upgrade their versions of these programs immediately. If you are using
dhcpcd on your system, you must restart it before the fix will take effect.
The easiest way of restarting it is to reboot, the next easiest is to run
the following command after upgrading the pacakage:

	/etc/rc.d/init.d/network stop; /etc/rc.d/init.d/network start

If you don't understand that bit of magic, just reboot instead ;-)

A *huge* thanks goes out to Chris Evans for finding all of these problems,
plus some we haven't fixed yet (fixes will be forthcoming). Again, sorry
for the recent delays in getting these problems fixed.

Erik
